I feel like I do weekend recaps all.the.time. Which means time is moving along nicely and June 21st (the day Ryan comes home for 2 weeks) will be here before long. Hallelujah!
Friday
Oh, beautiful Friday. It was sunny, windy, and warm. PraiseTheLord. My friend Emily (the one who was with me while I delivered Vandis) was in town this weekend because her husband had some meetings up here. We got together and met up with Jillian near her work downtown for an OUTDOOR lunch at Chipotle.
So fun :)
After lunch, Emily and I ran to Target and then looked at some puppies. She is thinking of getting a furry companion since her husband will be leading mission trips in Jamaica a lot during the summer. The front runner in the dog department is a nine month old that is potty trained... but best of all will match her living room. Yep. She said it. I can't make this stuff up people. You can read about her fun life as a new wife and a nurse in the ER here at her brand new blog!
Right before Financial Peace small group time and learning about loving your job and such... I gave Vandis a bottle of pumped milk for the first time! He did so well! Drank it right up like a champ :)
Way to go little man!
After small group was over I was feeling like making a dress... so I had some leftover fabric from Peyton's Easter dress and I made her a halter dress for when it's finally summer.
Please just ignore the crooked "O" that is hanging by one side. It's fine. Oh man, I am just noticing how "real life" this picture is.
Saturday
A rainy, cold Saturday. Jillian and I met up to go to the Minneapolis Craftstravaganza at the state fair grounds. It was so fun to see all the creativity that people have... we didn't buy anything but we did leave with some inspiration :) (I'm sure the vendors loooove people like us) I had to change Vandis' diaper... in the van.
And then I had to stretch across the swamp parking lot to buckle him into his car seat. I tell you these things so you can see how talented I am. :)
Then, because it was gross out, we went to the mall. I returned some jeans. Jillian got 4 for $10 jewelry. Peyton found a love for hats. It was successful.
Jillian, Emily and I ended the day with a GIRL'S NIGHT!
Vandis was less than thrilled. I mean come on... a craft fair, the mall, and then girls night?! Poor kid... I'll have to send him with his uncles to the game fair and some gun shows or something.
He did get a little revenge... I guess Emily told him that he had to start making her not want to have kids... and so he did. By spitting up all over her. Well played Van.
Don't worry she brought sweat pants.
Good thing.
Sunday
Since Vandis has developed a cough I decided that we would just stay home from church today. I thought he would be distracting in the sanctuary and I would be spreading his sickness to all the other healthy babies if I was in the crying room. So we listened to the service in bed. It was awesome.
The rest of the day we did nothing. Absolutely nothing. Well, we did Skype this cute man...
It's been a long long time since we had a day like today. It was nice. Although, I'm glad that tomorrow brings us our regularly scheduled busy-ness again. As evidenced by these pictures, If every day was like today... I would never dress my children or get out of my pajamas.
Peyton was productive today. She learned how to climb onto the couch by herself using the ottoman.
Way to go lady!
She also ate her brother gave her brother kisses.
And continued her love for hats.
Someone must have told her that Princess Kathrine wears hats and that in order to marry a prince and become a princess you must wear hats. Well Peyton, I'd say you are well on your way to princess-hood with this hat.
Well friends I do hope your weekend was all you hoped it would be :)
I'm going to try and enjoy this rainy week ahead of me that will bring fresh newness to our sad brown world! (Thanks Ria for the positive outlook on rainy weather)
