Spray Paint

My friend Alyssa (who just started a cute new blog centered on home improvement adventures... you should check it out!) inspired me to write a post about a spray paint project that I recently did.  This mirror came with a dresser that I got from craigslist... the total of the dresser and mirror together was $25. Love.  I am in the process of spray painting the dresser black so I can put it in my entryway, but since I already have a mirror in my entryway I needed another spot for this one.

Here's how it started out... It's not so bad... just needed a little help :)

I started by taking the back off so I could take the mirror out and just have the frame.  I did it this way so I didn't have to tape and be precise.  All I had to do was pry some staples up and then take them out with a pliers. Easy peasy!

Once the back and mirror were out I was left with a frame.  I laid it on some paper bags in my garage and lightly (like REALLY lightly) sanded some spots down.  Then I wiped it all down and began to apply the spray paint.

Here's the kind of spray paint I used.  Peyton will be moving down to the guest room in October when she is 2 and Vandis is 6 months, so with that room painted teal I decided to add grey and purple to start making it girly for my girl.  I thought a grey mirror would be perfect for her room!

Here it is after the paint!  Yes, I got some on my garage floor.  And garage wall.  There was a spider.

I left it to dry in the garage while I ran errands with the kids and thought it would be dry enough once I got home to reattach the back.  I was wrong.

There will have to be a few touch up's... no biggie!

Here it is on the bed in the guest room... Cute right?

I like it, I like it a lot.

Hope you are inspired to transform something in your house with spray paint!  If you do, let me know about it :)

Thanks so much for the link up! Your mirror turned out great! I love the grey, especially against the teal walls. I would love to see more of your spray paint projects, you're so creative! :)
