“The bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike, and yet notwithstanding, go out to meet it.”
-Thucydides
On this Memorial Day without my husband here, I am so thankful that his absence is not permanent. To all the families of fallen soldiers- Thank you, and I am praying that peace surpassing all understanding will fill you today.
. . . . . .
For the past few years my uncle has hosted "Meat Feast" on Memorial Day. Sounds good, right? It is. This year, however, he had something a little more important going on.
Meet Miss Gavia Sylvan (pronounced like "Lady "Ga"via"... so sorry, that's all I could think of)
Gavia was born on Friday, and her Mom, Dad, and big sister couldn't be happier. She is such a sweetie, when her big sister buttons her into an 80's inspired tutu dress...
She rocks it like a princess.
Although meat was obviously not the center of attention this year, it still made an appearance.
I finished off my night with some friends. Awkward looking friends. Awkward looking friends who in spite of the second couch and 6 chair options in this room decided to squish onto this couch. Awkward friends named Jillian, Amanda, and James.
We did things like rip phone books apart...
And blow up latex gloves. Because we are thirteen in our mid 20's and we like to have fun.
I hope your Memorial Day was filled with love, sunshine, family, and friends. Please say a quick prayer for the families of lost soldiers.
