Going off Dairy While Nursing

I've posted before about Vandis' gas problem.  The kid is constantly farting and burping. On top of that, he usually screams and screams.  And screams... all the time. He sounds like he's just in pain most of the time.  So when  I heard and read from a few different people and places that omitting dairy from your diet while nursing can help with a gassy crabby baby I decided to give it a try.

It's been just over 24 hours since I stopped eating dairy and I can not even tell you the difference that I've seen.  He's like a new baby!  It's amazing.  He didn't scream at all the whole night!  When he fussed a little he was easily comforted by people other than myself... and usually even I have trouble calming him down!  Dairy was my main food group up until 24 hours ago and it's not convenient to go off it.... but this transformation in such a short amount of time is so worth it!  My baby is happy and it makes me so happy :)

We just got home a bit ago (after a scream-less car ride, which is a blessing in itself) and when I went to get him and Peyton out of the van he was just smiling away!  After I changed his diaper I laid him on the bed to burrito him up and he was smiling and talking the whole time :)  I just LOVE it!

If you have a crabby nursing infant, I strongly suggest just trying this for a couple days and seeing how it goes.  It's totally worth it!
