As I sit here and rack my brain trying to remember this weekend my newest baby is hanging out next to me... pooping... for like the 5th time today. No joke. My other baby is in her crib kicking the wall... not in an "I want out of this prison" type of way... more like a "I am content to stay in here suuuuuper tired and crabby but not fall asleep. I will do things like jump up and down and kick the wall to pass the time" type of way.
Ok now that we have the scene down... let's recap!
Friday
This was our first full day home as a family. My mom and brother Micah came over with a "congratulations on being a big sister" present for Peyton. A toy kitchen set. Which she LOVES a lot. I catch myself looking over at her set and thinking for a second... "ughhh I have to clean the kitchen" and then remembering that it's a toy not actually my kitchen. And not even MYy toy. So unless we have to pick up for people coming over, it can stay as messy as Peyton would like!
Looks fun right? It is! And no, that is not Peyton and Vandis. In case you were wondering. No I do not have a picture of Peyton playing with her kitchen. Why? Oh... well because I have a newborn. Also, I forget to take pictures for my blog... but the newborn excuse is just so easy.
Saturday
Shopping! Vandis and Target got introduced for the first time post-out-of-belly and I brought my camera along to document the sheer joy on his face... unfortunatly I forgot to take pictures as I was preoccupied looking at strollers, buying peanut butter, trying to find gauze... you know the usual Target things. Also, he just slept the whole time. But trust me, he loved it.
After lots of research I had narrowed down my double stroller search to 2 strollers that I wanted to see in person. Target only had 1 of them so we (my parents, who were also with us at Target, and Pey and Van) went to Burlington Baby's Section to see the other one. Glad I did that because I ended up getting that one! So exciting!
The first picture is what we will be setting it up now as. Vandis will be in his carseat in the back and Peyton will be able to hang out in the front to see all that she can see. Once Van is old enough to sit in the chair we will switch the seats around so that they can face eachother! I love it! The seats also can face away from eachother or both forward or both backward. The options are endless (not quite) and just look at that storage basket! I love love love it!
Sunday
We went to church where my pastor spoke on being in a wasteland... so so good and encouraging. You can listen to it here. This was my first morning trying to get somewhere on time, with a toddler and an infant, by myslef... and we totally did it! We aren't usually ontime for church as it is so this was HUGE!
After church my friend Jillian and I went out to lunch at TGIFridays. We had a coupon for a buy 1 entree and 2 sodas and get a second entree free! Jillian is the same friend that I ate a million Hoagies with... because we had a coupon. We like our deals!
Peyton was tired (my fault so I can't get too upset) and hungry by the time we got seated so it wasn't long before she started fussing. And then Vandis needed to eat... so just picture this
a crying toddler
a nursing momma
an infant eating under a hot blanket
a good friend across the table
It went down something like this...
Me: Peyton can you just sit down... you are fine!
Peyton: WAHHHHH
Me: Ughhh, Peyton! Jillian, can you just pick her up and sit her in the booth next to me?
Jillian: Yeah no problem! (Pickes Peyton out of her highchair and sits her next to me.
Peyton: (Stands up on the booth and crawls over me and Vandis to get to my other side)
Vandis: (continues eating like being knocked all around while eating under a blanket is a normal occurance)
Me: Peyton... ahh... stop... you can't... be careful... gentle! Ughh ok... are you settled now?!?
Peyton: (stands up and puts her arm around her momma like nothing is wrong in the world)
Me: (sigh) Ok, now what were you saying Jillian?
Yep... fun times at TGIFridays :)
It was Van's first time at a resturaunt and I remembered to take pictures! Only, my camera battery was dead so I had to settle for cell phone pictures... better than nothing, right?
He kind of looks like he's waering a santa hat in this picture... his carseat is Orange and Grey... and he was laying on a white blanket. Apparently that equals "Santa" in cell phone picture world. He spent most of his time in his carseat sleeping. And probably pooping.
Peyton, on the other hand... when she wasn't crabbing was playing with ketchup. Awesome. But don't worry I gave her a baby wipe and she cleaned it right up. And then she tried to eat the baby wipe. Delish.
Well, that was our first weekend with Vandis! It was a deffinate success! We got to audio Skype with Ryan tonight... his connection wasn't too great... but it was better than nothing :)
Tomorrow we go to the doctor. Peyton for a possible ear infection and Vandis for his first checkup. We have to be there by noon... wish us luck!
