Every Wednesday night you can find me at church with the high school kids... hanging out at youth group. I am in a small group with the 11th grade girls. I love our little group! Every week we talk briefly about what we just learned from the youth pastor and his daughter. We just finished going through
Crazy Love by
Francis Chan...
Have you ever heard of it?!? I have not actually read the whole book, but from what Mark and Steph have been teaching and from what I've heard from people who HAVE read it... it's very worth it to sit down and read it!
This last Wednesday in my small group, one of the girls,
Michaela, came up with an analogy that really worked, (in my opinion) and made me think about how I could make a positive change in my life. I would love to share it with you!
You know how when you are on a vacation (which is my most favorite thing in the word, in case you were wondering) and you want it to be relaxing... but at the same time you don't want to waste your time sleeping in, watching TV, surfing the Internet, spending hours on Facebook... right? When you plan your vacation (depending on where you go) you plan a few places to see, a few things to do, a few people to see... even if you plan to just lay on the beach (heavenly) it is still a plan. Your vacation time is spent INTENTIONALLY. Why? Because you know that it is going to end... sooner than you would like usually.
Ryan and I took our first vacation "together" to Florida.

Here is a picture of us on the plane ages 17 (me) and 18 (Ryan) so cute! :)
It was our Senior class trip and we were not even dating... yet. Aside from falling in love with my now husband, I have so many fond memories of DOING things like...
Going Shopping...
Going to the Beach and a Water park

going to a pirate dinner show and meeting Andre, ooo la la haha
How different would my memories have been if we had just stayed in our little hotel rooms, ordered room service, and watched movies all vacation long? Not a very happy vacation, right?
Now, let's apply that same mentality to our lives... our time here on earth is so so short. James 4:14 compares our time here to the mist saying
"You don't know what will happen tomorrow. What is life? You are a mist that is seen for a moment and then disappears." Gods Word Translation
Just like how we know our vacation time will be short, we can KNOW that our lifetime is short. The bible says it people! What are you going to do with the short amount of time that you have been given? Are you going to get to the end of your life and look back at the time you had here with a sting of regret because you didn't do all you wanted to do?
OR
Are you going to live your life with intentionality! Making plans with God... and then carrying them out! We don't have a lot of time... we really don't even have a guarantee that we will have tomorrow. Start living intentionally right this second!
One of the students on the Student Leadership board got up and said a few words on Wednesday. She had a one liner that I LOVED...
"So many people are 'going through the motions' of Christianity... but I want to be IN MOTION!"
Amen Kassie! Let's start DOING things, not just talking about them! Live a big life now... because your time is running short.
