So, you know how earlier today I said I was going to take the kids to the beach to celebrate the 82 88 degree weather?
After driving around for a good hour... probably closer to an hour and a half... looking for one of 2 lakes that I thought I knew how to get to. We ended up 2 minutes from our house at a beach that we biked to last year that I TOTALLY forgot about.
After an hour and a half in a hot car with no beach in sight I kind of wanted to join my now tired Peyton in a cry fest and just go home instead of passing it to get to this beach.
But we didn't just go home. And I am so glad!
We pulled in, got our gear and ourselves, and walked toward the beach.
What we saw was that the "beach" had turned into a grassy hill dropping straight into the water. I almost cried right then. Where did the sand go! I swear it was here last year!
I realised a while later that the water just rose and ate up the sandy beach as it went.
Luckily we found this 10 ft long stretch of sand. Just perfect for my lady lou and her bucket and shovel.
On top of all the craziness that lead up to this beach time, I forgot my camera in the car... and I was not about to go back and get it... so cell phone pictures it is!
It worked out fine.
I have a pretty cute model.
Now, maybe you didn't expect to hear such a crazy back story about our arrival at this beach...
But I figured I might as well keep it real and let you know that sometimes it takes us an hour and a half to get 2 minutes from our house to a beach with only 10 feet of sand and we take cell phone pictures when our camera is just too far away.
It's just our life... and I'm trying to keep it real for ya...
All the up's down's and inbetweens!

Oh, I know. That's always how it happens, isn't it? :) I told my kids that maybe we'd go to the beach today...that is if there aren't any tornado sirens or hail balls...
